past events - 2006

2006 was an exciting time for the festival. Due to its popularity and ever expanding number of teams, the festival was staged for the first time at the brand new, state of the art, Salford Sports Village. This relocation from the previous site of Brantingham Road, Chorlton, proved to be a great move with many team managers describing this year’s festival as they best they have attended!

The event on 5th and 6th August saw 180 teams from across the northwest going for goal adopting the identity of a club from one of the countries that participated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Thousands of children, friends and families had a weekend to remember as the budding football stars competed for a coveted Fair Play Trophy.

Every child went home a winner with a festival medal and fun-packed goodie bag including Umbro water bottles, a reusable gym bag, sweets, wristbands and much more. Little brothers and sisters were also not disappointed as they had loads of fun with the giant inflatables.

A survey carried out since the event has revealed that 72% rated the festival as 'excellent'. 70% of those who responded thought that the location of the festival was excellent', with the remaining 30% rating it as 'good'.
